Great clip!

Senator Rosenberg would gladly toss 6% of the population under the bus to welcome this industry into the state, recognizing that as "Gambling Addicts."

(That 6% being what the Industry estimates, but it's proven to be higher elsewhere.)

My calculations indicate that 6% of the adult population of the Great Commonwealth equals 308,580 adults who will become problem gamblers.

If Toyota recalled 8 MILLION vehicles because 89 people were killed, why would we think tossing 308,580 families to the lions makes sense?

Deval Patricks tries to makes sense:

Gov. Deval Patrick, who supports the licensing of resort-style casinos, said Monday he agreed casinos create social problems, but said there are ways to respond to those, like ensuring there is money set aside to treat compulsive gamblers.

"Some of the opponents do raise appropriate concerns about the human impact, and anybody who's talking about this without talking about the human impact isn't telling the whole story," Patrick told reporters. "There is a way to strike that balance and do it responsibly."

Overall, Patrick said the prospect of thousands of new jobs and hundreds of millions in new revenue tips the scales in favor of casinos.

This is the guy who demanded we boycott Hyatt for putting 100 people out of work.

Apparently it's all about balance... and media coverage.

What a putz.
