"Mass casino plan facing negative vote among the Legislature" Globe poll of all 19 members of the legislative committee that will consider Patrick's proposal showed that it would probably get a negative vote that could prove difficult to overcome. "There's a lot of strikes against it," said Representative Barry Finegold, a Democrat from Andover and a member of the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies who does not support the Governor's plan to license three casinos.
is contrasted by the continued pro-casino headlines of the front pages of the Springfield Republican
with Governor Deval L. Patrick recorded as stating,
If his bill went to a vote in the Legislature now, it would be approved
Who is telling the truth?

Has politics and the future of the Commonwealth become an exercise in alternate realities?
"It's more than a bit premature to be talking about how any committee is going to decide on an issue before public hearings have even occurred," said Kyle Sullivan, the governor's press secretary.
How about the Governor predicting how the Legislature will vote?
Geez, guys! Get on message.

The legislature discredits iteself with this grandstand maneuver that provides ONLY pro-casino voices. But much of the media has already discredited itself on this issue.
Isn't it amazing what gambling profits and glitzy promises spread around can do?
The Govenor hopes that if he says his casino proposal will pass, then it will be true. I believe the legislature will see that casinos in Massachusetts will not solve any issues, only create more.
Some of us gave our elected officials and the media too much credit for brains and truth.
Wonder who owns the Springfield Republican?
The Republican is owned by Advance/Newhouse Communications, Inc. Here's a link to their political influence profile as compiled by the Center for Public Integrity.http://publicintegrity.org/telecom/search/profile.aspx?id=M000349
What has been interesting to observe is the endorsements/editorials that support one candidate/issue and the above the fold coverage of the opposite stance. It was evident in the Gov. race with the endorsement to Healey but the coverage heavily favoring Patrick. Same for the casino issue the editorial slammed casinos (Phaneuf and McDermott are bright guys) and the coverage...you know wording, placement of articles favors casinos.
Things that make you go, "hmmmmmm".
Thanks for the link! Most people haven't figured out that there are NO independent media outlets left and ALL reporting is so slanted, it's pathetic! We seem to have surrendered our freedom of the press, along with much else!
